HOUSTON, TX (September 6, 2011) – Crescent Real Estate Holdings LLC announced today that The Shops at Houston Center and 4 Houston Center are the first Texas shopping mall connected to a Class A commercial office building to achieve Gold status for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings ( LEED EB). The Shops at Houston Center is the first mall in Texas to be certified LEED Gold.
In May of 2011, The Shops at Houston Center and 4 Houston Center achieved the LEED EB Gold standard as a single mixed-use retail and commercial project.
The Shops at Houston Center feature a full-service medical facility, pharmacy, retail shopping, casual and fine dining as well as other entertainment options and luxurious lodging. 4 Houston Center features 12 floors of Class A office space. The mixed-use commercial and retail project connects to three other office towers at Houston Center through a series of sky bridges, underground pedestrian tunnels and street level entrances The Shops at Houston Center and 4 Houston Center join eight other Crescent properties in Houston with LEED certification. Fulbright Tower and 1 Houston Center are other Houston Center properties to be certified LEED. Greenway Plaza properties certified LEED are 5 Greenway Plaza, 9 Greenway Plaza and 11 Greenway Plaza. Earlier this year, Post Oak Central’s three office towers were the first office campus in Texas to achieve the LEED standard.
Crescent has nearly seven million square feet of LEED certified space in Houston. Crescent also has nearly 10 million square feet of Energy Star office space in Houston. Crescent was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an Energy Star Top Performer Award in 2009 and 2010. Recently, Crescent was awarded EPA’s Energy Star 10% Improvement Award for 2010.
