FORT WORTH, TX, (February 15, 2011) – Greenway Plaza will provide customers and neighborhood residents convenient, environmentally responsible recycling and e-waste disposal of computer and electronic equipment on Thursday, February 24th from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Phase I of the property. Participants can use the drop off lane of the Upper Loop Road adjacent to 5 Greenway Plaza to conveniently deliver unwanted or outdated electronic items. In addition to computer and electronic recycling, shredding will be available for safe disposal of customers’ and neighbors’ personal papers from 9 a.m. through noon.

Greenway Plaza community partner, Bass Computers, Inc., will recycle the collected electronics including the following acceptable equipment: computers, monitors, VCR/DVD players, servers, scanners, as well as cable/wire, integrated circuits, circuit boards, mainframes, and drives. Additional acceptable equipment includes telephones/cell phones, testing equipment, power strips, UPS backup, fax machines, memory and printers. Items not accepted include: televisions, refrigerators, household appliances, batteries, wood, ferrous metals (steel), non-computer plastics and hazardous materials. Customers and neighbors should remove all information from computer hard drives, cell phones and other equipment before donating the items. Crescent Real Estate Holdings LLC and/or Bass Computers, Inc. will not be responsible for data or information left on equipment. An industrial paper shredder provided by Cintas, another community partner, will be available from 9 a.m. through noon only for participants who wish to shred personal or other papers. Crescent Real Estate Holdings LLC and Cintas will not be responsible for the information and data on papers to be shredded.

The on-site drive through lane and walk up stations adjacent to 5 Greenway Plaza will be staffed by Bass Computers and Cintas staff members as well as Greenway Plaza/Crescent Real Estate employee volunteers. “We are pleased to again offer the customers in our buildings and our near-by neighbors an easy and convenient way to properly dispose of electronics. Our goal is to keep toxic materials out of our landfills,” said Robert L. Carlen, vice president of property management for Crescent Real Estate Equities, LLC. The majority of equipment will be disassembled and appropriately recycled, preventing toxic metals, plastics and other materials from being sent to landfills, according to Carlen. A second E-Cycle Day collection event will be held at Greenway Plaza in September of this year. The E-cycle events at Greenway Plaza have collected an average of 20.5 tons of materials that are recycled or safety disposed to protect the environment.
